15 little cents, so much worry...

We had decided to just pay off the small remainder of the last student loan hanging over our heads. On the surface, such an simple decision. We also did it to close out an old bank account. Then we got an overdraft notice on the closed bank account. Then we got a payment failure notice on the student loan. All of this weeks after having sent a decent last payment on said loan.

**sigh**

I had my husband call and apparently after we had checked the remaining balance on the loan and sent the check, an additional 15 cents came due. A nickel and a dime. 15 pennies. That was what they tried to get out of the closed bank account. That's what the payment failure notice was about. You can't even write a check for less than a buck. Unbelievably, they decided to write off the 15 cents we still owed. So see! There still is a little milk of human kindness left in the glass of life - providing it adds up to less than a quarter...
