Why is there a freakin' huge trade deficit with China? We like cheap shit. Yup, in a nutshell, it all comes down to most of Americans being more than happy to shell out peanuts at Walmart and Costco to get their shit real cheap. Were we willing to pay for quality, we probably wouldn't be in this predicament. I am thanking my stars for IKEA where we at least get cheap shit with some actual thought towards the design (god bless the Swedes.)
Now if only we could take this truth thing to the next level, I think America could own up to its faults and admit, that yes, are diggin our own grave. The war with Iraq. Pretty much that was about oil. Why is oil so important? We love our cars. Mass transit? Bah. Passenger trains? Fuck em. In this country, for right or wrong, we are an automobile makers dream. And I am willing to bet that if you went to the red states and explained in one syllable words that to be able to drive a big ass gas guzzlin', gun rack laden, confederate flag sportin' monster truck you gotta have lots of cheap oil they would all lean back, spit and say, well why didn't you just say so?
